Portrait of Judy Done

Ken Done and I were at art school together in the mid 50s. We met up again in London in the 60s when he was a hotshot art director with J Walter Thompson. He and Judy were married in London and, very romantically, he asked me to paint her portrait.
The only problem was that they both wanted frangipani flowers as a background to the portrait. I finally tracked down a suitable plant at the Kew Gardens in the West of London. Well, I got the drawings of the leaves there, but since it was Winter, I had to find good photographs of the flowers at the local library. Love conquers all! |
