This is the largest painting I have ever done. It is 65 feet long and about 5 feet high. It is an outdoor mural on a roofed wall which is a backdrop to a Japanese Sand Garden. The garden in question is in the village of Shipton in the Cotswolds. It was painted in the mid 1960s, when I was living and studying in England.
My brother, Viacheslav, designed the garden. It was featured in the Kubrick movie, Clockwork Orange, as well as appearing in several garden magazines and books.
The wall painting is a homage to the magnificent mural in the Temple Garden of Ryoanji in Kyoto. Below are two close up views of the main "white cloud" feature of the mural.
