This road runs alongside the River Darro, one of three streams which flow through Granada. If we were in the photo and were to look to our left, we would see the Alhambra towering above us. To our right, steep paths and roads lead up to the old Arab Quarter of Albayzin (or Albaicin).
This shot of hills and buildings was taken from a road which curves gently, back and forth, down from the Old Arab Quarter, the Albayzin. I met a local man who was walking up this road, as I, quite sensibly, was walking down it. He, too, was taking photographs. He said that it was his favourite road in the whole of Granada, as it offerred the best views of the city.
This is a narrow road in the heart of the Albayzin.
This energetic group of buskers was performing at a local cafe in the Albayzin. They were darn good! The standard of street musicians throughout Spain seemed to be quite high.
On the way down that curvy road I mentioned earlier, I came across a large stand of cactus plants. These flowers caught my eye.
This narrow lane led upwards from the River Darro to the hilltop of the Albayzin.
The Cathedral of Granada was built in the Renaissance style. Most of it is white, with a few splashes of bright gold.
The Cathedral is closely surrounded by multi-storied dwellings, with an abundance of cafes and restaurants. It is a very popular precinct.
The River Darro, with a modest bridge linking the opposing banks.
The water in the Genil River in Granada flows from the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada.
The sign states that this building is the Facultad de Derecho. Google Translate says that means the School of Law. Who am I to question the wisdom of Google Translate? Anyway, I just loved those spiralling columns.
This is the modern Science Museum, on the outskirts of Granada. Ah, those crazy ants!
This view shows the Alhambra in the distance, with ancient defensive walls in the middle of the picture. It is here to remind you to check out the page dedicated solely to the Alhambra.
