Travel Photos...Italy 2014, Page Eight
Lake Como
In April/May, 2014, I spent about 5 weeks exploring the Northern part of Italy. I stayed in six cities: Milan, Turin, Genoa, Florence, Padua and Verona. From those cities I was able to do day trips to a variety of locations, like Venice, the Cinque Terre, Siena, Pisa, Lago di Garda, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore.

This last page of the Italy 2014 trip is dedicated to Lake Como. The town of Como is about an hour's train ride from Milan.

It is best to take the slow ferry from Como to Bellagio as the fast ferry is a hydrofoil and passengers are not allowed to roam about. The slow boat is ideal for taking photos as it makes its way leisurely from town to town, and from one side of the lake to the other.

The final ferry stop on this trip was at the town of Bellagio. From here I caught an exciting bus trip back to Como. The road ascended high up the slope overlooking the lake.
The climate in Bellagio must be pretty mild for these palm trees to flourish here, despite the snow capped mountains in the distance.
These stairs lead to the upper levels of Bellagio.
These little cygnets were resting just outside the town of Como, on the shore of the lake.
This is the facade and tower of the Cathedral of Como.

The ferry ride on Lake Como was on the last full day of my trip to Northern Italy, in April and May, 2014. It was a most pleasant way to end this Italian journey.
