Ronda was delightful. I went there by bus on a day trip from Malaga. The journey went through some rugged, mountainous terrain as we got closer to our destination.
This steep gorge divides the old town from the new(ish) one.
The valley below seemed to be quite fertile. There were farms dotted throughout the plain.
This is a view looking towards the Old Town. Behind the palm trees there is that steep gorge mentioned earlier, and beyond that we can see the Cathedral of Ronda.
Lunch on the terrace at the lip of the gorge.
This is the Puente Nuevo (the New Bridge), which spans the Guadalevín River. It was constructed in the 18th Century.

According to Wikipedia: "There is a chamber beneath the central arch that was used for a variety of purposes, including as a prison. During the civil war (1936 to 1939), both sides allegedly used the prison as a torture chamber for captured opponents, killing some by throwing them from the windows to the rocks below at the bottom of the El Tajo gorge."

This Minaret is all that remains of an old Mosque. The doorway in the tower has a characteristic Moorish horseshoe arch.
This is a view looking towards the new town, past the Puente Nuevo.
This is the Puente Viejo (the Old Bridge) which also spans the The Guadalevín River.
This photo gives you a sense of the ruggedness of the terrain surrounding Ronda.
