Vung Tau and the Mekong River Delta

| On this last page, let me pay tribute to the Vietnamese who are among the friendliest and most hospitable folk on earth.
This group of young people, having a picnic close to the harbour in Vung Tau, invited me to partake of their delicious barbecued seafood, and taste their local firewater. Such acts of hospitality I encountered several times during my short stay in Vietnam. It certainly helped to make my vacation there a most pleasant one. |

| Haven't got a clue about these tiny critters. Are they rats or are they the local equivalent of the squirrel? There were dozens of them frolicking among some trees in a park and they did not seem to disturb or upset the human locals. I wondered if they might be part of the food chain here! | |||

| This contemporary structure is the Ferry Terminal in Vung Tau. I caught a Russian-built fast hydrofoil ferry from the centre of Saigon to Vung Tau. | |||

| Not sure what these posts and ramshackle structures are doing in the middle of the bay in Vung Tau. It may be some kind of fishing enterprise. | |||

| I booked a day trip from Saigon to the Mekong River Delta. It was a fun excursion, with lots of little sideshows to occupy our time. | |||

| We were introduced to a friendly pet python. | |||

| We left the main river and paddled up tiny creeks whose banks were overgrown with Water Coconut Trees. | |||
 |
